So many good ones I've read this summer! The standouts: Louder Than Hunger, And Then Boom!, The Tenth Mistake of Hank Hooperman, The Fire The Water and Maudie McGinn, and The Mystery of Locked Rooms.
Eek! Hooray! I am excited to meet Scorch and learn about Destiny. Destiny looks like a PERFECT story to follow-up Odder with! If you don’t get my Substack message please let me know.
Being completely honest here, my favorite book I’ve read this summer is yours, The Book Whisperer! Someone recommended this book to me, and I wish I could remember who it was so I could thank them. I’m a second-year second grade teacher, so I’m looking for all the guidance I can get, and your book has made me wish I was back in the classroom already so I can try these new techniques and figure out what my students love to read!
I enjoyed The Fabulous Zed Watson! way more than I expected to. I didn't think a book with Vampires and Zombies could possibly be my cup of tea, but this blossoming friendship/road trip/mystery was a joy!
I just read The Book That Jake Borrowed by Susan Kralovansky, in anticipation for my first year as an elementary school librarian. But personally, I'm really enjoying the book A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik.
After many years teaching in elementary, I will be teaching sixth grade this year. This summer I’ve read The Giver, The Lightning Thief, The Lunar Chronicles series, and Among the Hidden so far. Any time a middle grades book on my TBR list in Libby becomes available, I snatch it up!
I just finished And Then, Boom by Lisa Fipps. It was an amazing read!
I loved it! She is such a great storyteller.
Yes!! Such a good book!

I just finished Odder by Katherine Applegate- loved it! I know a few students who would love this story.
Odder is next on my list. I'm looking for a new read aloud for my fourth graders.
Meredith! You are the winner of the drawing. Send me your mailing address and I’ll put Scorch and Destiny in the mail!

I am about to finish Remarkably Bright Creatures and have loved it. Specifically the sections from Marcellus’s perspective.
I just finished The Eyes and The Impossible by Dave Eggers this morning. It's a contender for first read aloud of the year.
